Residential Remodeling and Additions

Tobin Construction, Inc., has extensive experience with homeowners who want to increase the comfort and usefulness of their homes by remodeling existing space or adding new areas. Whether you have a rough sketch or an architect's plan, we can help you turn your ideas into real space with the features you want. When you are ready to move ahead with an existing design, your Tobin Construction, Inc., project manager will work with you, your designer, or your architect to deliver the features you want in your new home space.  When armed only with an idea or a sketch, we can assist you with design/build services.

Design/Build

We can help you to achieve your residential remodeling goals, even if you don’t have a designer or architect.  Through long-term relationships with local architects and structural engineers, we can assist you in the design and planning of your construction project.  Your general concept and vision for your project can quickly and easily be turned into architectural/engineering drawings that will allow you to move ahead with your project.  Tobin Construction, Inc., can then help you through every aspect of the construction phase.

New Construction

Tobin Construction, Inc., has long history of working with architects to turn your dream into a well-crafted home. Your project manager will work closely with you to implement the design concept that will deliver a quality home with the features you want. Once construction begins, your project manager will supervise all construction activities, including the work of  sub-contractor staff.  TCI engages only fully licensed and insured sub-contractors for specialized work.

Commercial Services

Tobin Construction, Inc., has the knowledge, skill, and experience to undertake commercial remodeling and rebuilding projects of any size.  Although experienced in a wide variety of commercial work, from shopping center pad build-out to church renovations, we have specialized in restaurant creation and renovation.  We would like to work with your business to provide the environment you want for your customers and staff. Your project manager will work with you, your designer, or your architect to change the space you have into the setting you want.

Modular Homes

Tobin Construction, Inc., has installed both North American and Excel modular homes in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  We will work with you and the modular home vendor you chose to provide the home that you want.  We are experienced in every aspect of modular home construction, from site work through finishing.

Maintenance/Handyman Services

We provide maintenance, “handyman,” and repair service call support to residential and commercial clients throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.  No job is too small or too large.  Let us clean your gutters, fix a broken window pane, or maintain your entire apartment complex.  We are there to help, every day, every hour.

Building Permit Expediting

Don’t let the agony of getting that building permit keep you from undertaking your project, be it residential or commercial.  Tobin Construction, Inc., through its permit expediting services, can get your permit quickly and efficiently, allowing your project to start as scheduled.  We have worked with all Washington, DC metropolitan jurisdictions to obtain building and building-related permits.

Environmentally-friendly Construction

Tobin Construction, Inc., a National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Certified Green Professional, is committed to promoting the concept of environmentally-friendly construction (“green building”). An excellent definition of green, or sustainable, building is available in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_building), which goes as follows:

"Green building is the practice of increasing the efficiency with which buildings and their sites use and harvest energy, water, and materials, and reducing building impacts on human health and the environment, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal — the complete building life cycle.
Green building is also sometimes known as sustainable building or environmental building, although there are slight differences in the definitions. The practice of green building can lead to benefits including reduced operating costs by increasing productivity and using less energy and water, improved public and occupant health due to improved indoor air quality, and reduced environmental impacts by, for example, lessening storm water runoff and the heat island effect.
Green building is an essential component of the related concepts of sustainable design, sustainable development and general sustainability."

Your family’s health and the health of our environment are greatly affected by the choices you will make in planning your construction project. With careful selection of materials for your construction project, you can accomplish a lot for your family’s health and for the health of your environment.

Tobin Construction, Inc., is committed to working toward the use of safe construction materials and processes with you. The partners in this effort are not just you and Tobin Construction, Inc.; lumber yards, paint manufacturers, window installers, architects and space designers, and zoning boards are other members of the team who can make your home safe for your family and our environment safer for everybody.

The cost of going green can often be very reasonable and can be recovered in a short time. Adequately sealing windows may take a little more time, but your energy savings will quickly recover those costs. Choosing materials made from recycled products can cost the same as new materials. The options available to you are considerable; let us work with you to achieve them. There are many resources available to the client to introduce the materials and techniques. We would be pleased to work with you in “greening” your project.
